Slice of Life 2015: Textbook EDiting Surprise

Today I returned to working on my Developmental English textbook. I have seven annotated link pages in the Preface, and only one has been checked for dead links lately. But the real shock was finding out that one of the authors I summarized is very unpopular. The late Elizabeth Wright wrote “Keeping the Spotlight on Failure,”  a story about successful African-American businessmen in the 19th century. What i didn’t know is that her detractors called her a Neo-Confederate and even rejoiced over her death. I didn’t read any of her other works.
